Product Information

Injections of hyaluronan can provide relief from osteoarthritis symptoms. Purchase Synvisc-One from Medical Device Source to get osteoarthritis relief from just one injection. Synvisc-One, also known as hylan G-F 20, is made from hyaluronan that comes from chicken combs. Joints normally contain high amounts of hyaluronan, but as the body ages, the quality of hyaluronan in the joints is reduced. At the same time, the cartilage in the joints breaks down, and both of these factors can leave the joints without protection. Without lubrication and cushioning, the bones in the joint can rub together, causing the patient knee pain as they walk. When you remove excess fluid from the knee then inject Synvisc-One, the hyaluronan gel replaces the poor quality synovial fluid, providing the lubrication and protection the bones in the joint need. This reduces the amount of rubbing in the knee joint, increasing comfort for your osteoarthritis patients. There are other hyaluronan injections on the market, including Synvisc, but the advantage of Synvisc-One is that it requires just one injection to give patients osteoarthritis relief. Instead of weekly visits to your office, patients can come in for just one Synvisc-One injection to give them relief from osteoarthritis pain for up to about six months. When the symptoms return after about six months, your patients can come back to you for another Synvisc-One injection so they can get back to their active lifestyle.

Injections of medical devices made from hyaluronan, such as Synvisc-One, can cause some common side effects. These Synvisc-One side effects could include redness, swelling, heat, pain, and fluid build-up around the knee, but these are usually mild and not long-lasting. Rarely, Synvisc-One could cause an allergic reaction. You should avoid injecting Synvisc-One near the site of an infection or in the presence of a skin disease, and you should not treat patients with Synvisc-One who have a known sensitivity to hyaluronan. Since the hyaluronan in Synvisc-One comes from chicken combs, you should not inject it into patients who are allergic to eggs, feathers, or poultry. For about two days after a Synvisc-One injection, your patients should not perform strenuous activities such as jogging, tennis, lifting heavy objects, or standing longer than an hour.

Different patients will experience their Synvisc-One treatments differently, and some may wait about a month after their Synvisc-One injection until they feel relief from their osteoarthritis symptoms. Doctors often give their patients Synvisc-One injections when other treatments, such as diet, exercise, and medication, no longer provide enough relief from this progressive disease. Synvisc-One is an alternative to other types of osteoarthritis treatments but it can also be used in conjunction with these treatments to give patients the most relief from their osteoarthritis pain. Synvisc-One is more convenient for some patients than other osteoarthritis injections that require multiple weekly shots, allowing them to get six months of relief from their symptoms. Purchase Synvisc-One from Medical Device Source to give your patients one-shot osteoarthritis relief.
