The red carpet may be the best thing for the Oscars this season as the awards show is being universally panned as must miss TV. The Oscar nominees had better boost up and look good for the show (that has a really good chance to be soaked with rain) as few in America or the world have seen the nominated pictures and performances.
So far it is a very collective yawn for the one time prize of the Awards show season. Now - who really cares? The UK Daily Mail does do a lot of leg work and notes that many of those that will be strolling the red carpet will do everything in their power to get noticed and get a a mention as good or bad the next day with their fashion and hair choices.
Women will be working everything from cleavage to hair to fashion. The article is here. Deadline Hollywood Daily blogger Nikki Finke isn't all that excited about any of it. She writes, " If this year's Oscars suck, don't blame the writers. I'm told that arrangements were so last-minute because of the writers strike that some of the show's scribes began doing the Oscars by phone, fax and cyberspace.
An insider tells Finke, "Every writer had been festering with ideas they were not allowed to put on paper, so the moment the strike ended it was like a starting gun went off and the Internet lit up. Everyone needed to clear their schedules so it could come off as envisioned. I don't know what they had to clear -- who was workin'? -- but that doesn't seem to change a thing."
Oh don't worry, the ones that will be watching will definitely blame the writers if the jokes are awful. Few are going to buy the excuse that they need time to get back on track after a three month vacation. The good thing is - no one will be watching.
